THE ISSUES:
As the first Phase of the US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership draws
near, it is time to celebrate our accomplishments, reflect on our challenges
and initiate planning for Phase Two. The final Learning Community of
Phase One will combine celebration, assessment and planning. We have
all agreed that sustainability must be at the core of our work in building
community philanthropy on the US-Mexico border in Phase 2; the sustainability
theme will therefore be core to our main program. In addition to several
fabulous keynote speakers, this Learning Community will offer professionally
lead workshops tailored to the diverse sustainability challenges of our
21 community foundation participants. As we move into Phase 2, we have
also allocated time to develop indicators for measuring community foundation
and partnership success. Recognizing that success in Phase 2 will depend
on our ability to forge new bridging partnerships, we will commit our
last day a discussion of government-community foundation and corporate-community
foundation engagement and collaboration.
QUESTIONS TO BE ADDRESSED:
- What were the most salient accomplishments and challenges of Phase
One?
-
What does “sustainability” mean for Community Foundations?
-
How do diverse Border Community Foundations ensure a sustainable future?
-
How will we measure success in Phase 2?
-
What are the opportunities for BCF collaboration with new partners?
