A Border Philanthropy Partnership Learning Forum

Meeting Objectives:

(1) To improve the capacity of border community foundations to be catalysts for Family Asset Building in the border region; to identify and mobilize additional resources for family asset building; and, to provide effective grant making and other support to non-profit service providers.

(2) To improve the capacity of lead border nonprofit organizations to provide effective family asset building services and advocate for policy change.

Steve will present results of 2005 tax campaign border data (NTA) and discuss implications for planning, training, and troubleshooting.

In this peer learning group session of Border Community Foundations and Nonprofit Partners, facilitators will build on the homework assignement to help you consider the community foundation Family Economic Success (FES) catalysts and potential time commitment and the community place and population targets.

In this peer learning group session, participants will once again divide into two groups and work collectively (with facilitator support) to consider priority outcomes and indicators for each region. Please bring your workbooks with you.

3:15 – 5:00 pm Step Four: Commplete the FES Program Design Road Map

Group 1: San Diego Foundation, Arizona CF, CF for Southern Arizona, New Mexico CF and Yuma CF.

Group 2: Cochise CF, Santa Cruz CF, Frontera Womens Fund, Laredo CF, Texas Valley CF and Brownsville CF. Community Foundations Only.

In this COMMUNITY FOUNDATION peer learning session, the facilitators will address the questions of how? with whom? and with what resources? The community foundations will design their FES strategy and map resource, paying special attention to sustainability. This session will continue Thursday morning.

Community Foundations will finalize their FES initiative discussions in preparation for presentations before a panel of non-profit "real-time consultants" in the final session

Group 3: Nonprofit partners report to the nonprofit track

The border nonprofit organizations will consider and discuss a case study of coalition building for Family Economic Success.
Led by Midaela Seligman, New Eyes Consulting.

10:30-11:30– Presentations of Five FES initiatives
Plenary Session - Community Foundations and Nonprofit Organizations

Both, an established and an emerging CF, will present their proposed FES initiatives. Following the presentations,a panel of non-profit "real-time consultants" will provide feedback and suggestions on the proposals.
