COMING TOGETHER IS A BEGINNING, STAYING TOGETHER IS PROGRESS AND WORKING TOGETHER IS SUCCESS! - HENRY FORD

WHO ARE WE?

Laredo Area Community Foundation
“A vehicle that enables everyone to leave a legacy for the community they love.”

The Laredo Area Community Foundation was established in 2004 based on a feasibility study that concluded that philanthropic giving and charitable activity has been a longstanding tradition in the Laredo/Webb County area. The foundation’s main purpose is to mobilize local resources in support of non-profit organizations serving our area. By working with families, individuals, estate planners and attorneys, the foundation can design a gift plan to fit each donor’s financial situation to help them realize their philanthropic goals.

MISSION

The Laredo Area Community Foundation acts as a driving force to develop a permanent endowment, to assess and respond to emerging and changing needs to provide a vehicle and service donors with varied interests and levels of giving, and to serve as a resource catalyst for charitable activities in the community.

WHAT WE CAN WE SHARE?

Community Knowledge
The Foundation invests time and resources in maintaining a current directory of non-profit organizations and their services. We can provide expert advice to assist donors in meeting some of the community’s most pressing charitable needs.

Investment Expertise

The foundation works with investment managers that have the community’s best interest at heart. With this mind, great strides have been taken to ensure that the foundation’s investments allow for portfolio diversification and economies of scale similar to those achieved by mutual funds.

Community Leadership
Through philanthropy that is visionary, flexible and inclusive, community foundations have become catalysts for improvement. Starting with the convening of partners for the Family Economic Success Coalition, the foundation is bringing together non-profit organizations and the private sector. Together with community groups, businesses and even other foundations, the community foundation can assist in articulating their philanthropic vision, attract and distribute the resources needed to realize their goals. Values,

Accountability and Transparency
The Foundation strives to embrace the highest ethical and moral standards. Each donor must be confident that the funds invested in the foundation will be used for the purpose intended.

OUR HOPE

Our hope is to build an endowment that will assist every non-profit organization in the Laredo area to realize their dreams as they continue to serve those most in need.

THE FACE OF OUR FOUNDATION

The ribbon cutting for our office best describes the face of our foundation. The joy that each board member expressed in realizing the start of a new era for philanthropy in our community is a significant indicator of our future. As our Board President, Irving Greenblum, expressed so eloquently on that day, “We are here to see the start of a new beginning in the art of giving and helping.”
